about
The Christ Figure song is something we wrote a few years ago, probably 2007, when Athrylis was learning about the Christ Figure Archetype in class. She realized that a certain character in Lord of the Rings (we'll let you try and figure out which one) seemed to fit the standard surprisingly well, and we wrote this song with him in mind. Beyond that, it has no religious connotations (besides anything the listener wishes to impart).
Even though this track is labeled "Demo" it is one our favorite recordings we have ever made. Not only does it feature background harmonies and multiple instruments, but it would not be the same without our little brother, Bradach, who was about five at the time, providing atmospheric assistance throughout the entire thing. It is a demo because we hope to produce an even lusher version in full one day, but it won't be complete unless we include Bradach in that one, too!
lyrics
Ever since the day of my unnatural birth
My life has had its ups and downs
But now all the world will know what I'm worth
Since i blew out of my home town
I'm the Christ Figure, sent from God
The palms of my hands are covered in blood
Look at my hands, they are covered in blood
'cause I'm the Christ Figure, son of God
I lead my followers up to the gate
The journey has been long and hard
My stomach is full from the fish that we ate
As my life is short my back is scarred
(Chorus)
At my last supper betrayed by a friend
And you know that torture follows fast
My arms outstretched, I come to an end
But I cling to God until the last
(Chorus)
